Hi Cottagers,
My name is Paige Spehar and I am a proud cottager on Conestogo Lake! My family has owned a cottage on the lake since 1980. Our cottage has since been bought by my parents as 2nd generation cottage owners. One day I hope to continue this tradition. Our cottage is our happy place and we are looking forward to the summer ahead.
The idea to create Conestogo Lake gear came to me when a bunch of neighbouring cottagers were sitting at a campfire last year in our sweats and the idea was born. This season I decided to put this idea into action and start a summer business. This experience will help me learn some new skills, meet other amazing cottagers and hopefully help me pay for university in the fall. I am excited to see where this venture takes me!
My Story
I have been a cottager on the lake my whole life. My parents bought it from my Dad's family in 2011. My dad Greg, mom Alison, sister Lauren and dog Jack love spending time at the lake surrounded by our summer family. We are fortunate to live at the cottage all summer. I am just about to graduate grade 12 and will be starting university in the fall taking an undergrad in criminology/law. I would like to go to law school to become a lawyer. I will be working this summer at McCarter Grespan Law Firm where I am doing my co-op placement this semester. I am excited by both of these opportunities to help me save money to pay for school. I have worked hard my whole life, I love trying new things and meeting new people. During COVID I offered swimming lessons on the lake to help the kids lake learn to swim, which kept me busy and kids safe around the water. When I am not at the lake, you can find me working at the Woolwich Memorial Centre Pool, as a Pool Supervisor (lifeguard/instructor) and AquaFit Instructor.
